I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember. I’ve filled countless sketchbooks and napkins and scraps of notebook paper with horses, superheroes, cartoons, and all the daily décor I see around me.

I graduated from the University of Arizona’s Scientific Illustration program in 1990 and started teaching art soon after.

I’m a published book, magazine, and blog illustrator. Although I use many types of media, my favorites are pen & ink, watermedia, and pencils (both graphite and colored.)

In 2009 I tried urban sketching for the first time. It was in Seattle, at a coffee house, of course. I’ve been an urban sketcher ever since, in cities, the country, at the shore, in coffee houses, bookstores, movie theaters…wherever strikes my fancy. I love sketching and interacting with the intricate and complex world around me.
